Grant Examples

The following are representative, but not exclusive examples of projects which could be recipients of Duluth Legacy Endowment Fund grants:

  • After-school activities
  • Intergenerational programs
  • Senior activities
  • Health and wellness programs
  • Community arts projects
  • Prevention programs for at-risk youth
  • Youth recreation
  • Park or trail enhancement
  • Wetlands conservation, preservation or restoration
  • Community clean-up efforts

The Duluth Legacy Endowment Fund does not approve grants for:

  • City administration overhead (such as retiree health care, salaries or benefits)
  • Organizations requesting funding for their own grant-making activities
  • Individuals
  • Endowments
  • Medical research
  • Debt retirement
  • Lobbying groups
  • Faith-based organization, for the purpose of faith-based activities
  • Benefit tickets
  • Political campaigns or organizations
  • Telephone solicitations
  • Fundraising activities
